Community Message from Mayor Kling

Message from Mayor Kling

"Having walked through a year with a pandemic, presidential election and political unrest, we all have looked forward to a fresh start in the new year.  This past week was not the start we would have hoped for, in many ways. The division in our country is grievous and there is a growing divide between our large cities and rural America.

Open, honest and respectable civil discourse within all levels of government is the bedrock of our nation and is critical as we look to the future.

For the community of Nampa, we want our citizens to feel confident in your local government.  My goal is to build trust, ensure transparency and promote teamwork.  We want citizens to get engaged at the local level.  As elected officials, we must listen. While we won’t always agree, we need to work together to find solutions. I want you to know that we are committed to building trust, transparency and working together to build hope and a great future for Nampa.

While we all want to bury 2020, in that it’s such a memorable year, we are putting together a time capsule to capture this historic year. If you would like to contribute ideas, please reach out to our office.

Last, but very important, for our citizens wanting to get the COVID-19 vaccine, we are working with our local healthcare leaders and Southwest District Health to ensure that our community can access the vaccine as soon as it’s available. Our healthcare workers, first responders and elderly healthcare facilities have been the first to receive the vaccine.  For information on the rollout of the vaccine, please visit the vaccine page on coronavirus.idaho.gov.

Nampa is an amazing and caring community. We have a hope and future, but we’re going to have to keep working together to get there. Please join me. Thank you."

City of Nampa’s 2020 Time Capsule: more information will be available soon. Nampa residents are invited to submit a one-page document recording their experience in 2020 by January. Contact mayor@cityofnampa.us or call (208) 468-5401.
