[ARCHIVED] Officer Involved Shooting

During the course of the traffic stop a Nampa Officer Sustained Injuries.   We know that at least one officer fired his duty weapon, striking the adult male.   Medical aid was rendered on scene, but the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

The Officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment, his injuries are not life threatening.   The Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force was called out to investigate the incident.  Caldwell Police is leading the investigation and will be the point of contact for further information or questions related to this investigation.  No further information is expected to be released tonight.

 

**Update**

 

The Nampa Police Department is providing an update, due to the overwhelming support received by the public and concern for the Officer.  The Officer sustained a stab wound to the face during the altercation with the passenger of the vehicle.   It was after the Officer was stabbed, that a secondary Officer fired his duty weapon, striking the male.

 

This is an unfortunate situation and the investigation is ongoing.  Any further press releases will be handled by the Critical Incident Task Force.
