Nampa committed to being a safe & healthy community where people prosper

Introducing Nampa's Health Advisory Task Force

Over the past several months since coronavirus has spread through our community, the City of Nampa has taken active steps to reduce the spread of the illness, collaborate with community leaders and support small businesses and our local economy. The recent increase in positive cases reflects the seriousness of the virus and our need to join together to slow the spread so we can get our lives back to our new normal.

While this is a worldwide pandemic, COVID-19 is very real in our community. In an effort to increase trust and transparency within our community, Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling has formed a Health Advisory Task Force which will focus on providing local information from our local health care providers. The task force will compliment efforts by the State of Idaho and Southwest District Health to provide accurate data to our community.  The chair of this newly formed Health Advisory Task Force is Ed Castledine, CEO of Saltzer Health and long-time Nampa resident.

Castledine shared, “The role of the committee is to listen to the community and respond with accurate information that helps people make decisions about COVID-19. We hope to reduce fear and anxiety through truthful reporting of timely data and educate and inspire the community to make good decisions and ultimately slow the spread of the disease. We hope to encourage businesses to open up and get people back to work. I am excited to help lead a group of people who love Nampa and want us to thrive as a community.”

  • Formation of Nampa Ready Working Group, meeting weekly to address health and wellness, food access, housing, and business continuity in the Nampa community
  • Convening of a Community Leaders Forum

  • Monitoring, listening and responding to citizen feedback

Mayor Kling said, “We are working together as a community to get back to life as we knew it before COVID. In order to accomplish this, we need to all work together. The City of Nampa is working hard to collaborate, communicate and support our community during this difficult time. The formation of the Health Advisory Task Force came out of our desire to create transparency around the reality of our local healthcare capacities. With this goal in mind, we will be working to provide relevant and timely information from Nampa healthcare companies to Nampa residents. It’s going to take us all working together be become a safe and healthy community where people prosper.”
