Today it was announced that Canyon County has its first confirmed case of the Coronavirus. While it is not believed to be the result of community spread, we strongly encourage our citizens to follow the recommendations by public health officials to limit gatherings to 10 or less, practice social distancing and exercise frequent hand washing.
The City of Nampa will continue to closely adhere to guidance given by Southwest District Health, Central District Health and Governor Brad Little. Due to the rapidly changing nature of this situation, direction from public agencies has been changing frequently. As of today, the City of Nampa will not issue requirements of businesses or the public which exceed recommendations already outlined by Southwest District Health.
Mayor Kling said, “The City of Nampa is closely following and relying on guidance given by public health agencies. We’re asking the community to do their part to self-govern and take personal and professional responsibility during this time. Let’s rise to the occasion, make wise decisions, maintain social distancing, support our local businesses through takeout and care for your neighbors. Preventing the spread of COVID-19 in our community is everyone’s responsibility. If the time comes and we need to take drastic measures, Nampa will be ready to quickly respond to facts and official guidance.”
The City of Nampa has been in daily communication with Southwest District Health during this time. The guidance from Region 3 has been posted at https://phd3.idaho.gov/about/news/.
