Get your GAME ON with Nampa Parks & Recreation this July! Pick up a game board at the Nampa Rec Center, Lakeview Water Park or Lincoln Pool and participate in the free or low cost activities. Everyone who completes the game board wins a prize! This is a great opportunity for families to discover some of the fun Nampa Parks & Recreation has to offer!

Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)

The Nampa Rec Center, Kids in Action day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. KIA Summer Program begins June 10. Kids can swim every day, go on field trips each month, and have a different theme each week to explore. They will do crafts, learn new sports, read books, play games, make friends, and spend the summer being active and having fun! Parents must provide their children with a lunch for the Full-Day program. Parents may choose to purchase a lunch through the Rec Center. Meal is provided by either Blimpies, Del Taco or Pizza Hut. Lunches must be ordered by 10am. Cost is $3/lunch, $13/5-punch card or $25/10-punch card. Children must bring a lunch on field trip days.

Traditions Tang Soo Do

This class teaches self-confidence, builds self-esteem and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn age appropriate self-defense and weapons training. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional.

Clothing and Equipment

Beginning students should wear loose fitting clothing, such as sweat pants and a t-shirt. No jewelry or watches during class. A mouth guard when sparring and a groin protector cup (males) are recommended.

Tai Chi Classes

The beginning class covers the fundamentals of Tai Chi including: basic movements, breathing, meditation, warm-up form and an introduction on the Yang Style Short form. The intermediate class continues with movements, breathing, meditation, the Yang Short form, Yang Long form, fan form, sword form and an introduction to push hands (Tai Chi sparring).

LEGO® Super Hero Animation

Come create and build your own mini movie set out of Super Hero Legos and anything else to help create your own animated movie! Children will use technology to make an animated movie with complete editing capabilities, effects, music and narration all through iMovie and Stop Motion. Kids will have a video to keep and share with friends and family.

Youth Tennis 101

Youth Tennis 101 teaches the basic concepts and strokes of the game quickly and easily in a fun, family-friendly, active & encouraging group environment. Classes will take place on multiple courts with instructors trained and provided by Idaho Tennis Association.

Shooting Stars Basketball

Boys and girls in kindergarten and first grade will have fun playing basketball that emphasizes learning skills and sports values rather than pure competition. Each child is placed on a team coached by a parent volunteer. Teams will have one 45-minute practice and one game per week. Practices begin July 8. Games will begin July 11. Coaches needed! If you are interested in working with or coaching a team, let us know upon registration.

Kings Road Park Playground Ribbon Cutting

The Nampa Parks & Recreation Department is excited to announce the opening of a new playground at Kings Road Park in Nampa. Kings Road Park is a small neighborhood park that is approximately three acres in size. The park offers a playground, fitness trail and some open areas for play. The newly constructed playground will replace an existing playground in the park and create a new area with new features for kids to play and enjoy the park. American Red Cross Swimming Lessons

Taught by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. To view class descriptions, visit the “Aquatics” page on our website or stop by the Rec Center.

Which Class?

• Each child must pass a particular level and granted a Red Cross Card before proceeding to the next level.

• All age requirements must be followed unless instructor’s approval

has been granted.

• It is not uncommon for a child to stay in a particular level for several sessions before successful completion.

• Classes missed for vacation, injury, sickness or any other reason cannot

be made up and are non-refundable.

Skills Evaluation

Unsure of what level your child should be placed in? Sign your child up for a 5-10 minute skills evaluation with a certified instructor who will recommend an appropriate level.

Aqua Zumba

Jump into a Latin-inspired, easy to follow, calorie-burning, dance fitness party at Lincoln Pool this summer. This unique workout is designed for all ages and ability levels. Fall Adult Men’s & Coed Softball

Softball designed with fun in mind! The level of play is not highly competitive. Each team plays twice a week and receives ten league games. Pickleball Lessons

Kids Triathlon – Swim Clinic

Get ready for the SWIM at the 7th Annual Kids Triathlon with a Pre-Tri swim clinic. Splash into the pools with our certified swim staff as they work on efficient glides, kicks, front crawl and turns. Instruction will cover the basics for the swim portion of the event for each age category.

7th Annual Kids Triathlon

Sponsored by Idaho Central Credit Union

Ready! Set! Participate! in the Nampa Rec Department’s Kids Triathlon! This fun and challenging event is for kids ages 6-13 and will include swimming, biking and running. The 3-event race not only promotes fitness but improves your child’s self-confidence as they cross the finish line on their own. A great introduction to the sport, participants will swim in Lincoln Pool, followed by a safe bike and run on roads and grounds of Lions Park. All participants will receive an event bag and all finishers will receive a t-shirt. The transition areas will be in the parking lots and we strongly encourage friends and family to come cheer on these young competitors.

• Ages 6-7: 1 pool length (approx. 22 yd), 3/4 mile bike, 1/4 mile run

• Ages 8 -9: 2 pool lengths, 1 1/4 mile bike, 1/2 mile run

Ultimate Water Games at the Nampa Rec Center

Run, jump, throw while playing a variety of water games! Every activity will include a water component. Come prepared to get wet and beat the summer heat in the back yard of the Nampa Rec Center. Bring water to drink and a towel to dry off with. Registration required.

Join the Nampa Recreation Department and Bear Valley Rafting Company for this full day rafting trip along the Payette River.
