Mayor Kling appoints Clay Long as Chief of Staff

Clay Long, City of Nampa Chief of Staff

Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling announced today the appointment of Clay Long as the City of Nampa’s new Chief of Staff.

Long replaces Dr. Bobby Sanchez as Chief of Staff who was named the new Workforce Development Director at the June 3 Nampa City Council meeting.

Clay Long, City of Nampa Chief of StaffLong has been with the Nampa School District for the past four years as an Administrator for Career & Technical Education and assisted with the oversight of 28 career pathways. Long is active in multiple statewide organizations in addition to the Nampa Chamber of Commerce. Long also serves as a volunteer firefighter with the Upper Deer Flat Fire Department and is pursuing his doctorate in Educational Leadership through Northwest Nazarene University. Long holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration (Lewis-Clark State College) and graduate degrees in Educational Leadership (Master of Education from Concordia University and Educational Specialist from NNU).

“I am excited for this new opportunity and to continue championing Nampa and our growing community. I look forward to joining the City of Nampa team and contributing to its continued success,” said Long.

Mayor Kling said, “Clay is an outstanding addition to the City of Nampa and we are very fortunate to have him join our team. Clay has been an integral part of the vision and success of the Nampa School District’s Career and Technical Education programs.”

The Chief of Staff position provides oversight to the city’s risk management program, overall city assessment & strategic planning, boards and commissions, and represents the Mayor when needed at meetings and events, among other duties. Long will begin July 1, 2019.
