[ARCHIVED] Man arrested after multiple agencies respond to a bomb threat in Nampa.

On March 7, 2019 at 4:14 p.m., the Nampa Police Department received a message over social media reference a bomb threat. The individual sending the message stated there was an explosive device in the area of the 1700 block of South Juniper Street. Nampa Police Officers, Detectives, Nampa Fire Department, Canyon County Paramedics, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Region 3 Haz Mat, Idaho State Police and the 101st Civil Support Team Idaho National Guard responded to the scene and began investigating the incident. Several of these agencies responded because the threat also indicated a possible chemical warfare agent might be part of the explosive device. They were requested to assist the Nampa Police Department because of their specialization and expertise in this field.


While investigating the credibility of the threat, the Nampa Police Department advised citizens to shelter in place. Nampa Police Detectives were able to follow up on leads and interview people of interest. Persons of interest were identified and interviewed by investigators. Officers and investigators at the site of the potential bomb threat searched the area utilizing several types of equipment. They were not able to locate any suspicious items or substances.


After interviews, Nampa Police Detectives charged Grant C. Stevenson, a 22-year-old Nampa resident with the Terrorist Control Act, a felony, and 2nd degree stalking, a misdemeanor. Stevenson was booked into the Canyon County jail on those charges.
