On July 31, 2018, Nampa Police received a report of a rape that occurred at a residence near West Roosevelt Avenue and Midland Boulevard. The incident occurred on July 29, 2018, just after midnight. It was determined the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked door without permission and raped a female who was sleeping in her bedroom.

The suspect was identified as Joshua A. Hays, a 36-year-old Nampa resident. Detectives were able to gather enough evidence during the investigation to charge Hays with rape and burglary. Hays is currently in the Canyon County Jail, where he is being held on those charges.

Due to the boldness of the crime, there is concern this may not be an isolated incident. If anyone has had a similar incident with Hays, please call the Nampa Police Department at 208-465-2257, to speak to an officer and file a report.
