On January 2, 2018 at 7:29 a.m., Nampa Police officers responded to Idaho Center Boulevard and East Gate Boulevard for a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the male pedestrian, a 41-year-old Caldwell resident, had parked his vehicle on Idaho Center Boulevard in the southbound left turn lane to help another motorist in front of him. After pushing the stalled vehicle out of the roadway, the pedestrian was attempting to get back to his vehicle. He began to cross the northbound lanes of Idaho Center Boulevard and was struck by a white 2010 Chevy van pulling a utility trailer. The van was northbound on Idaho Center Boulevard and in the inside lane of travel. The driver of the van was a 32-year-old male and is a Garden City resident.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital due to injuries caused by the crash. The driver of the van remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigating officers. Officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in this crash. The crash is still under investigation and there are no further details to be released at this time.
