[ARCHIVED] Nampa Police announce end to automobile VIN inspection service.

Effective Oct. 1, 2017, the Nampa Police Department will no longer respond to individual requests for VIN inspections.

“As the Nampa Police Department constantly evaluates non-emergency services vs. emergency services to determine appropriate staff adjustments, vin inspections is one area that takes officers away from the task of crime prevention,” Police Chief Joe Huff said.

“This change will allow your city police officers more time to be pro-active and responsive to more emergent needs,” Huff said. “We will continue to prioritize our response to calls and balance those with the needs of the community we serve.”

VIN inspections can be obtained at the Canyon County DMV, 6107 Graye Lane, Ste. A, Caldwell. The county DMV conducts VIN inspections Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Commercial businesses or tow companies in need of a VIN inspection, should call 208-468-7916 and set up an appointment with one of NPD’s Community Service Officers.  VIN inspections for businesses and tow companies will occur on Mondays, with appointments being set between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
