[ARCHIVED] Large number of crows found dead in Nampa

Nampa Police Press Release Logo and Building

On Jan. 19, approximately 50 dead crows were found in the 400 block of 3rd Street South in Nampa.  The dead crows showed no signs of trauma. Some of the crows were turned over to Idaho Fish and Game for testing.  The results of the test showed the crows were positive for a substance that is commonly used in rat poison and is a known anticoagulant.

The Nampa Police Department is notifying the public that it is unlawful to poison animals including birds.  We want to alert the public that this poison is obviously very dangerous and to take extreme caution when handling dead animals/birds.  If you happen to come across a large number of dead birds, please contact Nampa Animal Control or the Idaho Fish and Game Department.
