On Feb. 23, at 12:28 p.m., Nampa Police officers were dispatched to a possible residential burglary in progress call in the 1600 block of West Aberdeen Avenue in Nampa. A citizen reported observing a male knock on the door of the residence several times. When nobody answered the door, the male jumped over the fence into the back yard of the residence. Prior to police arrival, the male subject came back out of the residence and got into a white, 2007, Mercedes passenger vehicle.

A Nampa Police officer observed the vehicle leaving the area and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. The officer lost the suspect vehicle and discontinued the pursuit. A short while later, the vehicle was located in the 800 block of West Oakmont Avenue. Due to the proximity of this incident to Iowa Elementary School, Nampa Police Department requested that the school be placed on a precautionary lockdown. Nampa Police also contacted a day care business in the area and advised them of the situation as well. Nampa Police officers were at the school immediately when this incident took place and stayed on scene during the lockdown.

Several officers began to search the area where the driver was last seen. After a short time of searching the area, the driver was located hiding in the back yard of a residence. The suspect is a 15-year-old male and a Nampa resident. The suspect was charged with residential burglary, eluding, obstruct and delay and failing to purchase a drivers license. He was transported to the Southwest Idaho Juvenile Detention Center where he is being held on those charges. The subject arrested was the only person involved in this incident.
