[ARCHIVED] Nampa Police Repeat Offender Program officer seizes large amount of methamphetamine

Officers with K9 and seized drugs

On Jan. 11 at 5:58 p.m., Nampa ROP (Repeat Offender Program) Officer Duke made a traffic stop in the area of 16th Avenue North and 7th Street North. Officer Duke made contact with the driver, Mariano Castillo, a 31-year-old Nampa resident and passenger, Dora Zamudio, a 24-year-old Nampa resident.

Officer Duke requested a canine unit to the traffic stop due to his conversation with Castillo.  K-9 Officer Grey arrived and had his state certified drug detection canine, Augie, perform a sniff of the vehicle.  Augie alerted to the vehicle and the vehicle was searched for illegal drugs.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers located a pillow case which contained several vacuum-sealed packages that contained a white crystal-like substance.  The substance was presumed to be and later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.  Over 4 pounds of the substance was located in the pillow case.  Officers also located small amounts of heroin and cocaine.  A total of $3,021 in cash was located and seized pending asset forfeiture.

Castillo was booked into the Canyon County jail for trafficking methamphetamine.  Zamudio was booked into the Canyon County jail on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, and possession of cocaine.
