[ARCHIVED] Nampa Police investigating a disturbance that ended up with a Nampa man stabbed

On 08/29/16 at 6:28 p.m., Nampa Police officers responded to a disturbance call in the 100 block of West Blaine Avenue in Nampa. The caller into the Nampa Police dispatch center reported that two men were physically fighting and that there was a lot of yelling. While officers were en route to the scene, it was reported that one male had been stabbed and that the other fled the scene on foot.

Upon arrival, officers located a 36-year-old Nampa man who had apparent stab wounds. This male was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries. The suspect in this case was not located at the time of the original call to police. Nampa Police detectives were called to scene to investigate. During the investigation, the suspect in this case was identified as Gabriel E. Zarate, a 30-year-old Nampa resident.

Later in the evening, Zarate showed up at a local hospital for treatment of wounds that he had sustained during the altercation. Detectives went to that location to continue their investigation. Zarate was treated and released from the hospital. Once released from the hospital, Zarate was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated battery, a felony. He was booked into the Canyon County jail on that charge.

Nampa Police Detective Sgt. Don Peck stated, “While Mr. Zarate has been arrested for his involvement in this crime, detectives are still seeking additional assistance from the public in understanding the events surrounding this incident.”
