[ARCHIVED] Nampa woman injured in vehicle vs. pedestrian accident

A 76-year-old Nampa woman, who was participating in the 30th Annual Harvest Classic Fun Run, was struck by a motorist this morning on Iowa Avenue.
The woman, who sustained serious injuries, was transported by ambulance to a Boise hospital. The accident occurred at 10:06 a.m. and remains under investigation by Nampa Police.
Nampa Police said a 70-year-old Nampa man was traveling east on the south side of Iowa Avenue near Edgewater Circle South when his Geo Metro struck the race participant who was nearing the end of the 4.97-mile race. A race first-aid crew member, monitoring the route, was first to respond.
Race officials said more than 550 children and adults participated in today’s annual event that features three different races. About 100 people participated in the 8K. The Harvest Classic Fun Run also features food, prizes, entertainment, vendor booths and a school competition.
Proceeds benefit youth through the purchase of P.E. equipment for local schools and Nampa Parks and Recreation Department Scholarship Fund. This fund provides scholarships for youth, families and individuals to access recreational activities.
