Applications Sought for Nampa City Council District 3

city council

Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling is seeking applications to fill a soon-to-be vacant Nampa City Council seat. Nampa citizens located in Nampa City Council District 3 with a desire to represent their community and provide guidance on important matters are invited to apply.

Following the recent city council elections, there will be a vacancy in the newly created Nampa City Council District 3.  This vacancy on the city council will exist on January 2, 2024 when the recently elected council members take office. Although District 3 has not yet been up for election in the normal rotation, the district has been established by the City of Nampa; therefore, Mayor Kling, with the confirmation of Nampa City Council, will be appointing an individual from Council District 3 to fill the vacancy in that district. The appointed individual will serve through the end of 2025. The next general city election for District 3 will occur November 2025 and take office January 2026.

Citizens interested in serving are encouraged to submit a letter outlining their qualifications and community involvement with resume and email to [email protected] by Sunday, December 10 or mail/deliver to the Office of the Mayor, 411 3rd Street South, Nampa, ID 83651. Applicants must live within Nampa City Council District 3 and an address verification will occur. To search Nampa City Council districts by address, visit this website or view attached map. Final applicants will be interviewed by a committee and Mayor Kling will make her final recommendation to Nampa City Council for confirmation as soon as possible.

Mayor Kling said, “Applicants who have been actively engaged in our community and have previously participated in local boards, commissions or nonprofits are strongly encouraged to apply. To effectively serve the citizens of Nampa, it is critical candidates have an understanding of how local government works.”

Applicants who have questions are encouraged to call the Office of the Mayor at (208) 468-5401. Those interested in serving on Nampa City Council in the future are encouraged to participate in the City of Nampa’s Citizen’s Academy which will begin in January 2024.
