For several years, the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho, located at 315 Stampede Drive in Nampa, has had minimal use. It has been a concern for Hispanic community members within Nampa who requested assistance from the City of Nampa which has been leasing the land to the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho for $1 per year since July 22, 2002.
In response to community concerns, the City of Nampa began the slow process of meeting and communicating with the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho leadership with the intent to share concerns and work towards a resolution without legal proceedings.
On May 12, 2023, a judgment was awarded to the City of Nampa for possession of the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho. After a 42-day opportunity to contest the judgment, on June 27, 2023, a writ of restitution was issued to the City of Nampa. The City of Nampa now has ownership and possession of the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho pursuant to the judgment and writ of restitution issued. The vacation of the building is being handled by the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office in accordance with the writ.
The Hispanic community is extremely important to Nampa and the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho was built to “improve the quality of life for all people as well as to recognize, celebrate, and preserve Hispanic heritage, culture and values,” as shared in the lease agreement between the City of Nampa and Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho.
The City of Nampa will be working with Hispanic community leaders to identify next steps to maximize the use of the facility moving forward. El Futuro del Centro Cultural Hispano de Idaho
Durante varios años, el Centro Cultural Hispano de Idaho, ubicado en 315 Stampede Drive en Nampa, ha tenido un uso mínimo. El 12 de Mayo de 2023, se otorgó una sentencia a la Ciudad de Nampa por posesión del Centro Cultural Hispano de Idaho. Después de una oportunidad de 42 días para impugnar la sentencia, el 27 de Junio de 2023, se emitió una orden de restitución a la Ciudad de Nampa. La Ciudad de Nampa ahora tiene la propiedad y posesión del Centro Cultural Hispano de Idaho de conformidad con la sentencia y la orden de restitución emitida. El desalojamiento del edificio está a cargo de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Canyon de acuerdo con la orden.
La comunidad hispana es extremadamente importante para Nampa y el Centro Cultural Hispano de Idaho fue construido para "mejorar la calidad de vida de todas las personas, así como para reconocer, celebrar y preservar la herencia, la cultura y los valores hispanos", como se comparte en el contrato de arrendamiento entre la Ciudad de Nampa y el Centro Cultural Hispano de Idaho.
