Press release sexual abuse of a child N23-19401

Man Arrested for Sexual Abuse of a Child Under the Age of 16,

Nampa Police Concerned There are Other Victims

On April 9, 2023, at approximately 12:53 p.m. Nampa Police Dispatch received a call reporting a male adult in the restroom of a gas station in the 1400 block of N. Franklin Blvd had propositioned a juvenile male for sexual acts. The juvenile, who was unharmed, acted immediately by exiting the bathroom, and notifying his parent, who was nearby in the store. The suspect was confronted by the juvenile’s parent, and he fled prior to police arrival. With the assistance of Nampa Police Patrol Officers, NPD Detectives were able to locate and identify Felix Romero, 53 years-of-age, a homeless man, living out of his vehicle. As the investigation progressed, surveillance was kept on Felix, and on May 10, 2023, Romero was arrested without incident and charged with Sexual Abuse of a Child Under the Age of 16.

Detectives suspect there may be other victims who Romero may have been in contact with prior to this April event, but with similar circumstances.

If you have any information related to this case or Mr. Romero being in contact with children, please contact Nampa Police Detective Corporal Matt Richardson at 208-565-5137. The Nampa Police Department also wants to take this opportunity to remind parents to be mindful that child predators often take advantage of any opportunity presented to them, even in populated areas.
