Check out the programs and classes being offered for the month of February from the Nampa Parks & Recreation Department. For more information or to register, please call 468-5858, go online to www.nampaparksandrecreation.org, or stop by the Harward Recreation Center, 131 Constitution Way in Nampa.


Lock In for Kids 

Sponsored by Domino’s Pizza 
Stay locked in at the Harward Rec Center all night and enjoy movies, swimming, games, and a pizza party. Male and female supervisors will be with the children all night. Children should bring sleeping bag, swimsuit, towel, and clothes to sleep in.

Sleigh Ride & Dinner 

Join Harward Rec Center as we travel to Garden Valley for an evening ride in an old fashion sleigh pulled by draft horses. Dress warm and bring a loved one to snuggle with as we drift through the snow with chances to view elk up close. Includes transportation, sleigh ride and a dutch oven dinner.

25th Annual Indoor Triathlon 

Join the Harward Rec Center for this annual indoor triathlon. This event features a ½ mile swim, 10-mile ride on an upright, stationary bike and 4 mile run on the indoor track. Space is limited so register early. Registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable after January 27th.  Minimum age 13 years}

Group Swimming Lessons-Harward Rec Center

HRC swim lessons meet American Red Cross curriculum standards, and all instructors are certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. To view class descriptions, visit the “Aquatics” page on our website or stop by the Rec Center.

Pickleball Lessons

Pickleball is a combination of badminton, tennis, and ping pong. It is played on a badminton size court using a wiffle ball and composite paddle. It is easy for beginners to learn and can develop into competitive play for experienced players. Gym shoes required. Class is for active older adults.

Bogus Basin Snowshoeing 

Join us as we venture to Bogus Basin for snowshoeing adventures followed by a stop at the Frontier Pointe Nordic Lodge. Includes transportation, trail pass, and snowshoeing. Limited snowshoes available for use. Pack your own lunch and bring water.

Daddy Daughter Date Night

The Harward Recreation Center has the perfect event for Dads to spend a special night with their daughter(s).  The Daddy Daughter Date Night is a magical night where every girl can dress up, go to the ball, and have a great time with her daddy. It is also a time fathers can devote solely to their daughters, helping build memories that she will always hold dear. Don’t miss this great opportunity to connect with your daughter and make lasting memories. Join us for an evening of music, dancing, refreshments, activities and special entertainment!

Balance and Fall Prevention class

This class will help increase mobility and independence by improving lower body strength, endurance, flexibility, and bone mass, which can help reduce the risk of falling.

Idaho State Archives and Old Idaho Penitentiary 

Join the Nampa Recreation Department for this trip into Boise to the Idaho State Archives and Old Idaho Penitentiary. The State Archives has a large collection of Idaho history, including Lincoln’s Legacy in the state. The Old Idaho Penitentiary was built in 1870 and housed prisoners for 101 years. Trip includes transportation, admission, tours, and lunch.

E-Sports: Tournament Super Smash Bros Ultimate 

Join us for our E-Sports Nintendo Switch tournament. Although competitive in nature, this tournament is meant to be fun for all ages and will no doubt have many levels of skill present. Tournament will be double elimination with pool play to determine seeding. Winner will receive a prize. Super Smash Bros Ultimate will have a 7-minute time limit with 3 stocks per game. Contact for additional rules and stages.

Splash N’ Dash 

We do the splashing… parents do the dashing! Parents, enjoy a Friday evening with each other while we entertain your children in the pools! For 3 hours our certified lifeguard and lesson staff will be in the water actively supervising, playing water games, and having a blast swimming around. Pick up can be any time before 9:45pm. Pre-registration is required.

Princess Dress-up Dance Camp 

Youth Dance Taught by instructors from Idaho Rhythm & Dance Company at Harward Recreation Center.
Dress up in our costumes and participate in activities. Dancing, tumbling, and playing a game may be included.

CPR/AED & First Aid Class 

This course is designed to teach participants to recognize and respond to cardiac, respiratory and first aid emergencies for adults and pediatrics. Upon successful completion of the course, participants are issued a 2 year certification through the American Red Cross.

Tots and Tykes 

Come join the FUN and keep your toddler moving. This program will introduce and reinforce sport skills through age-appropriate warm-up, stretching and fun games. Each child must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver.

Horticulture Workshop - Fruit Tree Pruning 

The City of Nampa offers horticulture workshops to help gardeners and homeowners develop a green thumb and keep their trees and plants healthy! Class is free, however registration is encouraged. The class is held in Council Chambers at Nampa City Hall (411 3rd St S) from 6-8pm.
Pruning your fruit trees for production is done differently from pruning your ornamental or shade trees. Learn how to properly prune your fruit trees for quality yields and to avoid broken branches.

Spikeball Tournament 

Whether this is your first time, or you have been enjoying this growing sport, be sure to come try your hand in the fun at the Harward Rec Center. Matches consist of 3 games to 21 points (winning by 2). Each team will play a double-elimination tournament following pool play to determine seeding.
