Nampa Library hosts eighth annual Christmas at the Library, including “Merry TubaChristmas” performe

Christmas at Library 2022

The Nampa Public Library will host the eighth annual “Christmas at the Library” on Saturday, Dec. 10.

At 11 a.m. the Encore Carolers will perform in the lobby. Now in their 20th year as the Treasure Valley's premiere Christmas vocal ensemble, the Encore Carolers bring a joy to the season that reminds listeners of family, friends and hope.

From 12-1 p.m. Harvey Phillips Merry TubaChristmas will perform in the lobby. Up to 35 tuba and euphonium players will gather to play Christmas music and celebrate the season. TubaChristmas has become an established Christmas tradition in cities throughout the world. Since its first performance, TubaChristmas has attracted hundreds of performers and audiences of all ages. The warm, rich, organ-like sound of this low brass choir has won the ears and hearts of every audience.

At 12:30 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive and will be seated in the tween area until 2:30 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to meet Santa and take a photo with him and Mrs. Claus. Candy canes have been generously donated by Idaho Central Credit Union.

From 1:30-2:30 p.m. Fire Song will perform in the lobby. Fire Song is a brand new non-audition group of 4th and 5th grade students from Idaho Arts Charter School who love to sing and perform. Their purpose this year is to bring back the joy and fun of performing and to celebrate the mystery and mischief that inspires us all during the holiday season. Fire Song is directed by Christy Schneider and Audra Hughes, the music and drama specialists at IACS.

At 3:00 p.m. Mariachi Tleyotltzin, Idaho’s all-female mariachi group, will perform. Mariachi Tleyotltzin is a young, energetic group with professional skills in the traditional sound of Mariachi music. Tleyotltzin in the Nahuatl language means "little hearts of fire" and this group strives to fill the hearts of fans with the happiness that the music brings them.

Refreshments will be in the multipurpose room at 11:45 a.m., while supplies last. Cookies and hot chocolate have been generously donated by Albertsons. All are invited to decorate an ornament for the Nampa Library Christmas trees!   Ornaments are currently available at all library information desks to take home, decorate and bring back to the library.

The public is encouraged to take advantage of free parking for this event in the Downtown Garage on Dec. 10. A special thank you to the Friends of the Nampa Public Library for their generosity in helping to provide programs such as this.
