Over the past several months, the City of Nampa has engaged in a variety of public outreach activities to gather community input on an updated parks and recreation master plan. On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the community is invited to a presentation on results from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Harward Recreation Center (131 Constitution Way).
The current parks and recreation master plan was created nearly 20 years ago, and the updated master plan will help inform future decisions for Nampa’s parks and recreation for the next 20 years.
The master plan will look at the existing park, recreational facilities, programs, and services, and determine the current and future level of services for the community based on public input. The December 13 presentation provides an additional opportunity for the public to share feedback on the plan. Residents, business owners, special interest groups, and any other interested parties are all encouraged to attend.
With a commitment to incorporate community feedback and tailor a plan to reflect the community’s needs, a number of public outreach methods were used. The City of Nampa hosted focus groups, stakeholder meetings and a public input session in August of 2022 to gather initial information. A needs assessment survey was conducted in October and November of 2022, and approximately 7,000 postcards were mailed to a random sampling of Nampa residents. Overall, nearly 1,000 survey responses were received between the random sampling and general public invitation.
