Weather permitting, the City of Nampa Street Division will begin to chip seal streets on Monday, June 6, 2022.  

There are twenty-three road sections that will be chip sealed. Chip seal will start on Midway Rd. at W. Orchard Ave. towards W. Karcher Lane, followed by Midway Rd. at W. Karcher Rd towards Moss Lane. We will then proceed to Moss Lane, Marketplace Blvd, Middleton Rd. and W. Flamingo Ave. Subdivisions will be chip-sealed last. A complete list of all the roads to be chip sealed are on the second page of this release, along with a map of affected areas. When all of the scheduled roads are chip sealed, crews will proceed to fog seal and then finally to re-stripe the roads.

Chip sealing is a common, cost-effective, pavement maintenance practice that extends pavement life and provides a good driving surface. Chip sealing is about one-fourth to one-fifth the cost of a conventional asphalt overlay.  

Staff hopes to complete chipping, fog sealing, paint and thermoplastic applications by the end of August.

Important reminders for drivers and residents:

• The speed zone in chip zones areas is 20 mph.
• Please help keep workers safe. Be mindful of crews working in chip seal areas.
• Parking on streets during the chip seal process is prohibited from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Once signage is removed, street parking may be resumed. Every attempt will be made to notify owners of vehicles parked in the right-of-way prior to towing.
