Nine local students earn $2,000 scholarships from annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament

2021 Golf Scholarship Recipients, Golf Commission and Mayor Kling


The Nampa Golf Commission awarded $18,000 in scholarships to nine college-bound students thanks to several local sponsors, 33-hole sponsors and 32 teams participating in the annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament. The event raises money for summer youth golf programs in Nampa, Mayor’s Teen Council and provides scholarships to high school senior golf students.  

The following high school seniors received $2,000 scholarships:

•          Hailey Bennett, Skyview High School

•          Kelsey Elliott, Ridgevue High School

•          Ryan Grove, Nampa High School

•          Lilyanna Hamilton, Columbia High School

•          Mathew Hernandez, Ridgevue High School

•          Ethan Higgens, Nampa High School

•          Jessica Law, Liberty Charter School

•          Mason Silva, Columbia High School

•          Olivia Taylor, Skyview High School

Major tournament sponsors were: CapEd Credit Union, ­­­­­Texas Roadhouse, Regence BlueShield of Idaho, Republic Services and Disaster Kleenup

The Nampa Mayor’s Golf Tournament has raised over $191,000 for scholarships and youth golf programs during the 19 years it has been held. Current members for the Nampa Golf Commission are Scott Jacobsen, June York, Steve Wilson, Linda Estes, Craig Stensgaard, Todd Durbin, and John Nielsen.
