Plumbing & Excavator Permits


PERMITS REQUIRED

All plumbing piping and drainage work, except in case of repairs to leaks, replacing broken fixtures or like emergency repairs, shall require the installer to obtain a plumbing permit from the City of Nampa Building Department.

QUALIFICATION FOR PLUMBING INSTALLER

Any plumbing installations requiring a plumbing permit and inspection as defined in this code shall be installed by a state licensed Journeyman plumber employed by an Idaho licensed plumbing contractor.

Exception:
Homeowner Installation: Plumbing installations may be performed by individuals who are the legal owner of group R, division 3 and group U, division 1, occupancy's as defined by the international building code, and the property to which the structures are attached. Plumbing installations allowed under this exception shall only be permitted if the property owner will be residing in the dwelling for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days after the wiring is completed. 

Hardship Cases: A member of the immediate family will be allowed to perform electrical wiring for a family member unable to perform the work for himself or herself.

EXCAVATOR QUALIFICATIONS

Excavation contractors involved in installing individual sewer and/or water service lines serving private properties, which are wholly outside the building envelope, must have obtained one of the two (2) qualifiers listed below before applying for or receiving a Nampa city license or permit:
  • A state of Idaho, health district septic system installer's certification.
  • A state of Idaho public works excavator license.
