Downtown - 2nd & 3rd Street South Roadway Rebuild Project
July 20 - The city of Nampa recently discovered an isolated section of water main on 2nd Street South that is badly deteriorated. The water main is located under the south side of the roadway between 14th Avenue South and 16th Avenue South and must be replaced before the roadway can be repaved. The contractor has started to replace the water main but the work will delay repaving 2nd Street South until mid-to late August.
Replacement of the water line will not affect work on 3rd Street South. Crews will pave the roadway between 16th Avenue South and 12th Avenue South this week.
The city of Nampa will be rebuilding 2nd and 3rd Streets South from 12th Avenue South to 16th Avenue South during the spring and summer of 2018.

Promotional Materials (The following promotional materials and social media images can be downloaded and used to encourage people to visit downtown during construction)
Reconstruction is Needed
2nd and 3rd Streets have been overlaid many times, the pavement has been cut and patched for repairs and cracking is visible. Due to the existing pavement condition it is time for the entire roadway segment to be rebuilt.
In addition to rebuilding the roadway segments, sidewalk corners along 2nd and 3rd Street South from 12th Avenue to 16th Avenue South will be rebuilt. The new corners will comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Nampa Downtown Historic District Streetscape Standards. Several underground utilities will also receive maintenance.
Open House Materials
Construction is especially difficult for adjacent businesses, unfortunately roadways and underground utilities do not last forever and at some point they need to be replaced. To ease the impact on businesses, vehicle and pedestrian access along the corridors will be maintained during construction, but the number of lanes will be reduced. On street parking will also remain in place except when pavement has been removed. The city is working with Downtown business owners to develop promotional materials.
