Amity Avenue Project

The City of Nampa is planning to widen Amity Avenue between Chestnut Street and Kings Corner. The proposed design is to widen the roadway from two to four lanes and add sidewalks, curb and gutter.

Background

Amity Avenue functions as an east-west commuter route between Nampa and Ada County. Traffic has increased in recent years, causing bottlenecks and long delays.

The segment between Chestnut Street and Kings Coner was selected for improvements based on public input and engineering analysis in late 2008.

Approximately $8 million from the federal government is available for improvements to Amity Avenue.

Project Process and Schedule

2008

  • Conducted preliminary traffic and environmental analysis
  • Gathered public and property owner input
  • Identified Chestnut Street to Kings Corner as area with greatest need for improvement

2009

  • Began environmental and engineering work

2010

  • Gathered public input and property owner input
  • Complete final design for improvements

2011

  • Host a public hearing
  • Gain enviornmental approval
  • Begin right-of-way acquisition

2012-2013

  • Complete right-of-way acquistion
