The individual appointed will serve a five-year term beginning January 1, 2019. Board meetings are held at the library on the second Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m., and typically last from one to one and one-half hours.
Nampa citizens with a desire to help oversee the library on this citizen-board are invited to apply. Those with interests in the library and its mission, in the education of Nampa's young people and in Nampa's downtown, are especially encouraged to apply.
Trustees are integral to the operations of the library. Five appointed library board members oversee the library director and set the library budget under the direction of the City Council. They also work with library staff in evaluating and updating library policies and in approving new policies.
After being appointed by Mayor Debbie Kling and confirmed by the Nampa City Council, the appointee's first official board meeting would be January 8, 2019.
Applications are currently being accepted through November 30, 2018 and interested individuals are encouraged to submit a letter of interest expressing reasons for wanting to serve via email to Mayor Kling at firstname.lastname@example.org.
