The City of Nampa will begin detouring traffic to 7th Street South the evening of Sunday, April 8 to accelerate excavation of the roadway bed on the north sides of 3rd Street South as well as utility upgrades on 2nd Street South.
For westbound traffic on 2nd Street South (Detour 1 on the attached map) traffic will be detoured via 16th Avenue South to 7th Street South to 12th Avenue South (SH-45).
For eastbound traffic on 3rd Street South (Detour 2 on the attached map) traffic will be detoured via 12th Avenue South (SH-45) to 7th Street South to 16th Avenue South.
Only one street will be closed at a time during the detours.
The rebuild is needed to improve the severely deteriorated pavement. Sidewalk corners will also be improved to fit Downtown Historic Streetscape Standards and to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Several underground utilities are also being upgraded.
The $2.8 million project is scheduled to be complete in late August. The contractor is Idaho Materials and Construction of Nampa.
Access to businesses will remain open during all phases of construction. Downtown Nampa is running a weekly promotional campaign, called a Cash Mob, during construction to encourage customers to shop downtown. Customers who shop during the Cash Mob can win gift cards for any merchant downtown by posting pictures of themselves or their purchases on the Downtown Nampa Facebook page. Specific business types are being promoted each week. Go to the Downtown Nampa Facebook page to learn more and sign up for the Cash Mob.
The city will continue to provide updates about the project at http://cityofnampa.us/projects/downtown. If you have questions, please call 208-465-2221 or email email@example.com.
