The community is invited to join the Nampa Fire Department at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, for the annual Patriot Day ceremony to remember those who paid the ultimate price serving their community on that fateful day on Sept. 11, 2001.

Firefighter Darrel Rosti will serve as emcee and Capt. Jerry Flavel will be the bell ringer. Invocation and closing prayer will be given by Nampa Police Department Chaplain Chuck Hagemeier.

Taps during the raising of the flag will be played by Larre’ Robertson, member of Bugles Across America. This year the flag will be presented by Nampa Fire Department Honor Guard. Firefighter/Paramedic Todd Cannon will play Amazing Grace on the bagpipes as well.

The ceremony includes the Ringing of the Last Alarm, a tradition in fire departments when there’s a line of duty death.

The remembrance will occur at Fire Station No. 1, which is located at the corner of 1st Street South and 10th Avenue South. The ceremony is expected to last about 15 minutes.
