Students, teachers and parents will start the school year with safer access to and from Nampa High School. The new parking lot design shown in the attached map reduces potential traffic conflicts by creating a single entryway and two separate exits. Those who use the parking lot are encouraged to review the new access and exit approaches before school starts.

Along with the parking lot re-design, the completed project includes several other enhancements aimed at improving safety for all users:

  • A full-depth roadway reconstruction along the south half of Lake Lowell Avenue.
  • A new ADA compliant, multi-use pathway has replaced the sidewalk and eliminated sidewalk gaps along the south side of Lake Lowell Avenue.
  • Nampa High School parking lot and drainage improvements will be completed.
  • Separate enhanced pedestrian crosswalks are being constructed across Lake Lowell Avenue near South Canyon Street and Olive Street. The enhanced crosswalks will feature RFBs (Rapid Flashing Beacons)

Except for the street lighting, RFB crossings, landscaping and final cleanup the project will be complete by the time school starts on Aug. 23. These remaining items will be completed within the first few weeks of school.

The $1.38 million project was funded through a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant and local streets match dollars. It was made possible through a cooperative effort between the City of Nampa, Nampa School District and Valley Regional Transit.
